Dragging the Shutter

Velocity Weekly sent me out as one of their Party Crashers last night. I work for them like that on ocassion, always wishing for more because they pay pretty good. I ended up at Prime Lounge to catch shots of the crowd during a performance by the John Sutton Band. Everyone seemed like they had a great time.

I experiment at times just in general, but I did on this assignment as well. The shot here is an outtake meaning I didn’t submit it, but I like it because of the effect. To get that, you take a slower shutter speed to let more ambient light in. It creates shots that look like this. The young lady in the middle, Shannon, is a photographer herself (as well as a party goer) and would totally understand what I was trying to accomplish. And that’s how I arrived at today’s shot for the Daily Photo Project.
